Bummer

I heard this on The Writer's Almanac this week and couldn't resist including it here:

"Do you realize that all great literature — Moby Dick, Huckleberry Finn, A Farewell to Arms, The Scarlet Letter, The Red Badge of Courage, The Iliad and The Odyssey, Crime and Punishment, the Bible, and "The Charge of the Light Brigade" — are all about what a bummer it is to be a human being?"--Kurt Vonnegut

100% change this is all great literature - some of my own very top faves. Do note, however, that they are named as such by a man, and they are all written by men. You guys should come over to the fun side of life sometime. We ladies have a pretty good time.

Good point. The divine Jane Austen would be quick to point out that Vonnegut left out the need to get everyone married off.

OK, smarty pants, but at least they had fun doing it! Dancing, flirting, eating, drinking, partying, writing letters, etc. is not the worst way to spend a day.
