Annual Thanksgiving possum recipe
It has become something of a holiday tradition at Goat Rope to feature a different possum recipe here each year at this beloved national holiday. We firmly believe that one can never have enough possum recipes, although we would probably demure if it came to actually eating one.
This one is from Cooks.com and is called Possum cream pie. It's the best possum recipe we've found so far, mainly because possum wasn't an actual ingredient.
For Old School hard core possum enthusiasts, we also include this recipe for possum or bandicoot soup even though we are not quite sure what a bandicoot is.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Annual Thanksgiving Possum Recipe

Yes, it's that time of the year. Holidays are all about tradition and it has long been a custom at Goat Rope to feature a possum recipe at this special time of year. We do this in the hopes that others will partake of this creature so that we do not have to.
This year's selection is one called "Opossum Pie." It looks better than recipes we have featured on previous Thanksgivings (perhaps because there is no possum in it).
Click here to enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving!

Annual Thanksgiving Possum Recipe

It's Thanksgiving and that means one thing here at Goat Rope. It's time for the annual Thanksgiving possum recipe.
(It goes without saying that first one must acquire a possum, which may well not be available in the specialty section of your local grocery store.)
I found the following recipe for Allegheny Roast 'Possum at a website called ushotstuff.com:
Amount Measure Ingredient Preparation Method
2 pounds 'Possum - (to 2 1/2 lbs) fat removed
Apple-Raisin Stuffing
Salt to taste
Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
3 Sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons Brown sugar
1/4 cup Flour - (to 1/3 cup)
Stuff with Apple-Raisin Stuffing, and truss. Dust with salt and
pepper; put on a roaster rack. Roast at 325 degrees for 1 hour to 1
1/2 hours (30 to 35 minutes per pound). For the last 30 minutes, put
peeled and parboiled sweet potatoes around the meat. Dust meat
with brown sugar mixed with 1/4 to 1/3 cup flour. Baste with
juices 3 times during the last 30 minutes.
Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving!
(Note: I'm sticking to turkey.)

2009 Annual Thanksgiving Possum Recipe

One of the great things about holidays are the enduring traditions that grow up around them. And there's one tradition at this blog that comes at this time of year. That's right--it's annual possum recipe time!
(We must remind the Gentle Reader that no self-respecting WV hillbilly would use the word "opossum.")
((We must also confess that no self-respecting WV hillbilly of my acquaintance actually EATS possums. However, as befits citizens of a state with the motto "Montani Semper Liberi" or "Mountaineers are always free," we will defend your right to do so.))
So, without further ado, here's a link to an interesting recipe for possum stew. Enjoy!

Annual Thanksgiving Possum Recipe

Entertain no doubt, Gentle Reader, that the staff of Goat Rope strive ceaselessly to make this a full service blog. And no full service blog worthy of the name would be complete without a possum recipe on the occasion of this great national holiday.
(Note: no self respecting hillbilly would use the term "opossum.")
((Note: no self respecting hillbillies of my acquaintance actually eat them--not that there's anything wrong with that.))
First, of course, you must find a possum. Once that objective has been achieved, here is an interesting recipe for possum and sweet potatoes.
Enjoy and have a great Thanksgiving!

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING POSSUM RECIPE

As part of our ceaseless efforts to be a full service blog, Goat Rope is proud to continue its annual Thanksgiving tradition of providing its readers with the best in possum recipes.
(Linguistic note: no self-respecting hillbilly would be caught dead using the citified term "opossum.")
Here is one for roasted stuffed possum.
It goes without saying, however, that in order to make this mouth-watering repast, first you need a possum.
Enjoy and have a great Thanksgiving!
